Got to sleep in again this morning which was nice! But I still woke up on my own around 7 and couldn't go back to sleep. We left the condos around 8 to get to the gym for a 9 o'clock strength and conditioning session. Tito Ernie owns a gym called "Armm" near his house in Alabang. We did a lot of ladder drills and core exercises followed by a circuit. We had to do vertimax jumps (which I hate, and they are even worse over here!) Family- you probably don't know what a vertimax is, but the people at Cornell do. Anyway, the way we do them over here is that we get hooked up to two rope things on either side, plus we have to hold ropes in our hands. So... jumping is a lot harder. We had to do three sets of 10, with a 30-second rest. Then we pretty much did a normal lift, showered, and had lunch.

Most of the girls went to the hot springs today, which I really wanted to do... but I stayed back at Tito Ernie's house to do some homework. I take my last test on the 15th. I decided that updating this blog would be my study break!! I'm not really sure what the agenda is for the rest of the day... for now I'm just enjoying the AC and the wifi :) I was telling Rick earlier that it's crazy how much we take for granted back at home- air conditioning, good internet access, clean water, hot water, toilet paper-- all these things we take for granted back at home are so precious over here! I guess it's a pretty good transition to going to Tanzania where I'll be lucky to have more than a sponge to shower with! I've also gotten pretty used to bug bites. Mosquitos, ants, etc....
PS: Happy Mother's Day Mom! Love you!
